06:01 got the job!
The room was sterile and unwelcoming, the kind of office where opportunities seemed to go to die. Jessica, a young blonde woman with a confident smile, strutted in wearing her favorite pastel blazer. She carried herself with an air of ease, but deep inside, she knew she had to ace this interview. As a skilled hypnotist, Jessica never doubted her ability to turn even the bleakest situation in her favor.
Her interviewer, Mr. Callahan, a middle-aged man with sharp glasses and an even sharper attitude, looked up at her with thinly veiled disapproval. “Jessica, right?” he said, not bothering to shake her hand. “Let’s get this over with.”
Jessica’s smile didn’t falter. “Of course, Mr. Callahan. I’ll make it worth your time.” She sat down, crossing her legs with the same deliberate calm she always used to unsettle her subjects.
Callahan wasted no time diving into her lack of experience. “I’ll be honest,” he said brusquely. “You don’t exactly scream ‘qualified’ for this role. We’re looking for someone with more… substance.”
Jessica leaned forward slightly, allowing her voice to take on a soft, melodic cadence. “That’s funny,” she said, popping a piece of gum into her mouth. “Because when you really think about it, qualifications are just… perceptions, aren’t they? It’s all about how you feel in this moment.”
Callahan frowned, his eyes narrowing as she began to chew, the subtle smacking sound punctuating her words. “Perception?” he repeated, slightly distracted.
“Exactly,” Jessica said, tilting her head and twirling a strand of hair. “Like this gum. So soft, so pliable. Just like our brains, wouldn’t you agree? When you chew gum, it’s almost as if you’re molding your thoughts, shaping them into something new.”
Callahan blinked, his gaze inexplicably drawn to the gum in her mouth. It glistened as she blew a small bubble, then pulled it back into her lips. “What does this have to do with the job?” he asked, though his voice had lost some of its edge.
Jessica chuckled lightly. “Everything,” she said. “See, as I chew, the gum gets lighter, airier, just like your thoughts. You can almost feel it, can’t you? That lightness in your head, as if I’m blowing all the stress out of your mind with every breath.”
She blew a slightly larger bubble, the soft pop breaking the silence in the room. Callahan’s posture shifted as if an invisible thread had slackened. His shoulders dropped, his expression growing oddly vacant.
Jessica’s voice dropped an octave, becoming more commanding. “It’s so easy to let go, isn’t it? To feel that light, airy sensation spreading through your thoughts. The more you watch, the more you feel it. And as this bubble grows bigger, so does your calm, your focus… entirely on me.”
Callahan’s mouth opened slightly, as though trying to form a reply, but nothing came out. His eyes remained locked on her lips, the gum now a mesmerizing tool of control.
“And when it pops,” Jessica whispered, leaning forward, “your mind will pop too. All the tension, all the resistance… gone. You’ll feel completely open, ready to accept whatever comes next.”
Jessica blew a final, large bubble, and with a dramatic pop, Callahan’s head tilted back slightly, his body sinking into the chair. His eyes fluttered closed, his breathing slow and steady.
“Good,” Jessica said, standing and walking around to his side of the desk. She placed a hand on his shoulder, her voice now filled with authority. “From now on, I have this job. Twice the salary. You’ll ensure I get it, won’t you?”
“Yes,” Callahan murmured, his tone flat, devoid of resistance.
“And you’ll follow all my instructions, happily, without question,” she continued, a wicked smile spreading across her face.
“Yes… without question,” he echoed.
Jessica pulled back, watching as his dazed expression remained locked in compliance. “Excellent,” she said, popping the gum back into her mouth. “I’ll be in touch about the rest of your new responsibilities.”
As she walked out of the office, Jessica’s confidence was unshakable. This wasn’t just about a job anymore. No, this was just the first step in her plan to hypnotize everyone in the company. Soon, they would all be under her spell, dancing to the tune of her whispered commands. Jessica had won this battle, and she knew the war was hers to claim.
